Love Rules!
As you know, hearts and beautiful graphics saying "love" are my jam. That said, I am not a fan of the coupley Valentine Hoopla (dinner at home with my husband is lovely but I would rather flowers on a random tuesday), but I will happily shower my friends and children with valentine fun.
My college aged boys are now horrified with the Valentine care packages but I think if i stopped sending them, they would think something was very wrong. Pj's and candy have been the annual tradition for 20+ years. One Valentine's Day I showed up to Carter's championship ski race with a heart decorated gift bag. Poor kid was mortified but he -- and the team -- were thrilled for a bag of candy on the bus ride back to school.
As I get older and life gets complicated, more and more I want to show my friends how much they mean to me. What could be better than a Galentine's Day celebration? Enjoy a nice dinner or invite some friends over for coffee or cocktails. It doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs to be meaningful. If getting together is tricky, drop off a little something with a card for your friends. One year my kids' elementary school had a fundraiser and parents could purchase tulip plants. I bought a bunch and delivered them to my friends with a sweet note.
Here are some things to make your celebration -- in person or in spirit -- a little more special. Fill one of these fabulous resin bowls with candy, light the candles, arrange some flowers in a pretty hand blown vase, bring out the pink & red with this table cloth, or go all in with hearts using this cloth and these napkins. Make it fun!
So to celebrate friendship I propose setting the table, binging on wine and chocolate, eating a great meal and setting a fabulous table. Love Rules!
