French Portieux Vallerysthal White Opaline Glasses | Set of 10

Set of 10 19th century, Portieux Vallerystall, French opaline glasses. Portieux Vallerystall is a historic, French glassworks renowned for its beautiful opaline glassware characterized by its milky appearance. Portieux (established in the 18th century) and Vallerystall (established in 1836) merged in 1870 in the Lorraine region in France. The famous opaline glass is opaque but when next to light it becomes somewhat translucent and sometimes shows a “ring of fire”, a bluish, red hue around the edges in bright light due to the manufacturing process. This set of 10 is in excellent condition.

This is a rare and cohesive set — ideal for everyday use or special gatherings — and a perfect example of how vintage glassware can elevate a table without feeling precious. These glasses transition effortlessly from casual lunches to more formal dinners, pairing beautifully with both modern tableware and traditional settings.
