The Fourth of July on Cape Cod is its own kind of magic. The harbor smells like salt and sunscreen, someone's always firing up the grill by noon, and the table needs to be ready for a crowd that shows up hungry and stays until the fireworks. It's my favorite kind of hosting — relaxed, festive, a little chaotic in the best way.
This year I've been pulling together all the pieces that make a Fourth feel truly celebration-worthy, from the beach bag you grab on the way out the door to the tablecloth that anchors the whole outdoor spread. Here's what I'm loving right now.
Start at the Table
The table is where it all comes together, and the base layer matters more than anything else. I'm obsessed with the Stripe Linen Tablecloth in White and Red for the Fourth. Wide red and white stripes on pure linen — it's festive without being costumey, and it drapes beautifully on a long outdoor table. Layer on your blue napkins and white plates and you have an instant patriotic moment that still feels chic.
For serving, the Splatter Platter is one of my go-tos all summer long. The hand-painted splatter pattern is cheerful and just a little unexpected — perfect for piling high with corn, tomatoes, or whatever comes off the grill. And the Speckled Serving Bowl alongside it is the kind of piece that looks like you thought really hard about the table, even when you didn't. Use it for watermelon, a big salad, or the chips that disappear before anyone sits down.
The Speckled Pitcher is also having a major moment on my summer table — filled with lemonade or a big batch sangria, it instantly makes hosting feel a little more festive.
The Drinks Setup
A great Fourth of July party lives and dies by the drinks station. The Handmade Seeded Glass Ice Bucket is genuinely one of the most beautiful things we carry. The seeded glass has this wonderful texture that catches the light, and it's substantial enough to actually keep things cold through a long afternoon. Set it out with the Fieldbar Drinks Cooler Box nearby and you've got a drinks station that people gravitate to all day.
The Fieldbar is worth mentioning again on its own because it is that good. It keeps drinks cold for hours, it looks great sitting on a patio or deck, and it doubles as extra surface space when you need it. If you're hosting a crowd this weekend, this is the piece that earns its keep.
The Finishing Touches That Make It Feel Special
Candles on an outdoor table in July might sound unnecessary, but they do something magical once the sun starts to set. The Lacquer Ball Candle in Small and the Lacquer Ball Candle in Large are so pretty clustered together — the glossy lacquer finish reflects the evening light and they feel festive without being fussy. Scatter a few across the table alongside the S&B Tapered Candlesticks for a little height variation and you have an outdoor table that looks intentional and relaxed at the same time.
And if you need a beautiful berry colander that doubles as a serving bowl — the Splatter Berry Colander is it. Rinse your strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries right in it, then set it straight on the table. Red, white, and blue fruit has never looked so good.
The Beach Bag Situation
Before the party, there's always the beach. And this is the year to finally have a bag you actually love carrying. The Mini Ayine Woven Bag is one of those pieces that makes the whole beach day feel more pulled together. Handwoven and genuinely beautiful, it's the right size for sunscreen, a book, your phone, and a coverup — and it looks like you put in effort even when you didn't.
And the Beach Blanket Role is something I've been telling everyone about this summer. It rolls up neatly, it's big enough to actually share, and the stripe is that perfect navy-and-natural combination that works for literally every beach aesthetic. Grab one before the weekend — it's a forever piece.
This Is Your Sign to Host Something Good
The Fourth of July is one of those occasions that rewards a little intention. You don't need a complicated menu or a perfectly set table. You just need the right pieces — a beautiful cloth, a great drinks setup, a few candles for when the sun goes down — and the willingness to invite people over.
