We are in it...the heart of winter and I am sharing a few of my favorite winter things. From cozy clothes to winter activities and cooking, this is how I get through the winter months.
I am a big fan of feeling cozy. Warm fuzzy socks, cute sweats, cashmere sweaters and a soft blanket are my go to "hang-at-home" looks. When I leave home I ALWAYS wear a cute hat (and several layers). I crave warm drinks and at home can always be found with a mug of something steamy. Morning coffee melds into various kinds of tea.
I just found these great mugs from the UK and I am here to say that drinking from this wide-based cup is SO GOOD! More warm surface area for your hand to wrap.
Hand loomed in Ireland with 100% pure Irish mohair, these blankets are warm, cozy and chic.
My hat of choice this winter. Hand-knit in Maine.
As you may or may not know, skiing is my passion. I learned to ski when I was three years old and the I have hardly stopped since (pregnancies and a blown out knee did get in the way). I get through the winter spending weekends on the slopes in Vermont and the hopeful trip to "out west." Designed by a local artist, I just love how these placemats and coasters celebrate New England skiing in a light and airy way. Pop them into your ski house with colorful dishes and you have an instant brightener for dark winter days.
Soup.... soup is my liquid (warm) gold my winter cooking mantra. I make a big batch most weeks and freeze some so there is always something warm to eat. Some of my favorites on regular rotation include: Barefoot Contessa Winter Minestrone, Dinner a Love Story Sausage and Kale Soup, Barefoot Contessa Chicken Chili and our friend, Marc's, Thyme & White Bean Soup.
Soup lunch in Vermont with another favorite mug, acrylic placemat and our washer-dryer-go napkin.
Stay tuned for more winter thoughts and tips as the season has just begun!
