Melissa's April Favorites

My Top Picks for April

A HOMECOMING TABLE

This month, I've been thinking about my boys-especially my oldest, who's graduating from college next month. Cue all the nostalgia. I've found myself remembering the little things: favorite meals, old routines, and especially the semester he spent in Japan. We visited while he was there, and ever since, Japanese cuisine has had a special place at our table. Sushi, ramen, dipping sauces-he loves it all. So, as we prepare to welcome him home, I'm setting the table with things telebratory. This goth favorite are inspired by that: little dishes for soy sauce, trays for serving, and special pieces to turn everyday meals into moments.

Japanese Linen Coated Tray

I think the shape of these trays make them great for serving sushi. They come in multiple sizes so you can get them for individual serving or for a big crowd. They are also made in Japan which is a fun nod to his time abroad.

Faux Bois Tray

And for a super big crowd, we love this XL food-safe tray. We have sushi on our mind, but it's really perfect for all your upcoming summer BBQs. You can serve burgers, hot dogs, fruit, charcuterie, etc.

Mini Bowl

Of course you need a mini bowl for dipping sauces! These are what my family uses for soy sauce, gari (aka sushi ginger), and wasabi.

Spongeware Bowls

No sushi is complete without a miso soup on the side. Or if you're like my son, sushi is the starter and ramen is the main event. We have sooo many cute bowls, but I decided to highlight these because they're on sale (only four left!!).

French Blue & Navy Napkins

And last but certainly not least, napkins! Every meal in my home (no matter how big or small) is served with real napkins. I made it a goal a few years ago to ditch the one-time-use paper goods. We have so many beautiful napkins on the website that you can browse through but I wanted to share what I use at home for everyday meals. These are super easy to care for, cotton napkins that I throw in the laundry and don't have to think twice about.

The blues in my April favorites are inspired by the Japanese indigo dyeing class we did in Tokyo -- love to have my boys do something creative with me. Not their natural habitat but it is so good for them to also experience the things that make me tick. 💙
