How to Host Apres Ski Like an Olympian

While I sit here watching the women's GS olympic ski race, my thoughts go in so many ways. My boys ski raced for many, many years with some kiddos who joined the US Ski Team and could potentially compete in future olympics. The memories come flooding back while I watch these athletes come flying down the hill.

When I host an apres ski shindig I like to serve some great food, great drinks and cozy vibes. A big beautiful cheese and charcuterie board is a given. But I take it up a notch by serving local Vermont cheese and meats. The board should be beautiful so it's also a feast for the eyes.

Linen cocktail napkins, hurricane glow and personal touches elevate the cheeseboard.

For the kids in the crew, I always have a hot cocoa bar. Make it fun for the kids who will be cold after a day on the slopes followed by some outdoor playing.

Our favorite mug makes the perfect hot cocoa vessel. Cookies, chocolate and of course marshmallows complete the sweet treats.

Now for the main event... the bar. What would apres ski be without cocktails to toast a great day on the slopes?

I like to lay out the fixings to make your own cocktail. Some bourbon for manhattans, tequila for the marg/paloma lovers and of course wine and craft beer. Pretty glassware and elevated cocktail napkins bring beautiful touches making the bar feel homey and special.

Of course when I host in Vermont, the gathering is not complete without pizza from American Flatbreads (the original one). I like to feed guests so they don't leave hungry for dinner!

How do you apres?
