2024 in Tablescapes

I love to entertain, I think my favorite part of hosting is setting up and making my home look special. In my early thirties, my group of friends and I decided we were going to do a year of dinner parties celebrating each person's birthday. For each celebration we did a different tablescape, focusing on the season and guest of honor's personality. Every time Lucy (my amazing digital marketer) and I photograph a tabletop, I am transported back to a special year. So naturally as I reflect on 2024, I thought it would be fun to share each tablescape we created, and maybe one of these will inspire you!

 January

In January we focused on winter blues with this gorgeous navy blue tablecloth with coordinating napkins. We used our favorite Themis Z dishes and midnight blue pitcher and glasses

February

For February we celebrated Valentine's Day with a fun setting for the family or the gals. We added candy and ribbons to make the setting whimsical and fun! We welcome any excuse to use our heart plates and fun striped linens

March

March in New England starts of cold and ends feeling like there will be warmer weather ahead. We paired a gorgeous cloth from Lisa Corti (sold out) with fun chargers and solid wash and go napkins and moroccan pottery. Vintage dishes completed the look.

April

In April we celebrated the adage "April showers bring May flowers" with this beautiful cloth from Summerill & Bishop (sold out) which we paired with some Japanese plates I found on my trip there in February. We added in touches of rattan to keep the setting light and airy.

 May

For a late May dinner on the porch, we leaned into chartreuse, bamboo and rattan. We used one of our favorite handblock printed tablecloths with bright cups and vases to perfectly welcome the season of fun (in New England).

June

In June we celebrated the garden with two looks in the most beautiful garden setting. The first look when the peonies weren't stealing the show, we showcased fun Indian cotton tablecloth and napkins, and Iraca palm accessories. Our second look featured a most incredibly hand embroidered tablecloth and napkins by Malaika Cairo. True heirloom pieces. We mixed in earthy Iraca placemats and Mexican pottery

July

In July we did two looks, one for the 4th of July and another that could be used throughout the month. Hydrangeas from the garden are our summer go to for flowers. Our red, white and blue look used pieces with year round use and appeal. Wash and go linens from Summerill & Bishop, handmade vases from our favorite Vermont ceramicist, woven touches and midnight blue pitcher. Our second look celebrates blue and white with the ultimate pattern play. Indian block printed linens and napkins pair with wipe & go placemats, Vermont-made splatter plates, French glassware and bamboo flatware. Handmade reusable placecards, Murano glass candle holders and Italian sea urchins complete the look.
August
In August we played with warm summer hues to celebrate the changing colors of hydrangeas in the garden. We used earthy terracotta colored Egyptian linens with our first look and mustard yellow with coral accents for the second. French tortoise flatware and lettuce leaf edged dishes completes the look.
September 2024
September in Boston is one of my favorite times of the year. Dining al fresco is at its prime with warm dry days and nights. In the first tablescape, gray-blue and white tablecloth and napkins with the sweetest embroidery set the backdrop for some gorgeous local dahlias in hand painted vases. The second look starts the transition to fall patterns and hues with a leaf design in maize, warm pinks and plums. Gingham napkins add a bit of pattern play.
October
In October we went urban chic with stripes, tie dye and mouth blown Murano glasses. For flowers we used a handmade French seeded glass vase and ice bucket (an ice bucket can easily double as a large vase).
November

In November we feast! First we played up autumnal hues and pattern play by layering pretty placemats on top of a block printed tablecloth. Deep eggplant colored glassware and gorgeous lacquered candlesticks add drama and interest to the table. We love a good wine bucket and these two do not disappoint. Lastly we think placecards are always a good idea when entertaining so guests know where they can place their belongings and take the pressure off of figuring out where to sit. These placecards up the ante big time! Handmade and reusable -- just write names with a whiteboard marker. Our second look features The Feast Tablecloth decorated with different John Derian imagery. Stunning and interesting, just add flowers for a bit of freshness.

December

In December we feature European elegance mixed with texture and earthiness. Beautiful Hungarian tablecloth in two patterns and napkins (also two patterns) paired woven chargers and textured basketweave dishes. Ceramic wine coaster/dish and candlesticks add touches of decor and function.
